We are both amateur painters who started four years ago when we were freed from our professional obligations. Through painting we try to express life and the contemporary world. Our work exhibits the joy of life and the love for those around us, either through subtle or more obvious references. This is our fifth exhibition.

This year’s exhibition is dedicated to the stray animals taken care of by the Kefalonia Animal Lovers Association (Συλλόγου Ζωόφιλων Δήμου Κεφαλονιάς).

BIOGRAPHY

Efi Spilioti

Efi Spilioti was born in Kefalonia, where she completed her primary and secondary education. She is a graduate of the Harokopio Higher School of Home Economics in Athens. She is also a graduate of the Department of Graphic Arts at the Athens Technological Institute – Doxiadis Schools, having studied under distinguished teachers including A. Tasso, D. Mytaras, P. Zoumboulakis, Marina Lambraki-Plaka, G. Georgiadis, P. Gravvalos, H. Dekoulakos, T. Katsoulidis, and G. Parmakelis.

She works with painting on ceramic surfaces, which she makes herself. She has created thousands of functional and decorative objects, always unique. Mastering her material, she expanded into the creation of large surfaces. These are multipart, painterly works with color as the dominant element. She has held 24 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 60 group exhibitions in Greece and abroad.

Her works are held in private collections in Greece and abroad, as well as in public spaces, businesses, and organizations. She has been honored with a poster award and two commendations in national competitions and won third prize in a nationwide competition organized by ISAP. She has also illustrated six volumes of Greek mythology for children, for the Greek Letters Publishing House, Athens, 2001, as well as a large art book with her own texts titled 28 Goddesses of the Sea, Oceanids and Nereids, by Fytrakis Publishing, 2006. At the same time, she is involved in graphic arts (posters, calendars, maps, brochures, etc.).

She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece (EETE) and a member of its Cultural Committee. She has repeatedly served as an elected member of the Classification and Evaluation Committee as well as the Decorative Arts Board of EETE. She is also a member of the A. Tasso Fine Arts Society, the Greek Children’s Book Circle, and the Greek section of the World Art Society of Children’s and Young Adult Book Illustration “Aesop.” She was a member of the World Crafts Council (a UNESCO organization) for many years.

She has participated in conferences as a speaker and has curated ceramic and fine arts exhibitions either alone or with colleagues. Her sources of inspiration are Ancient Greek Literature and Art.

“Suggestions, Thoughts, Opinions”

Pandora Dolla lives in Athens, Greece. Since 1969, she spends her spends her summers on the island of Kefalonia. She paints, using different materials such as oils, acrylics, powders and water colours.
Kefalonia holds special meaning to her, being one of the bases in her life, a source of inspiration for many of her works and motivation for creation. Between the magic of the surroundings and the character of its inhabitants, she has always felt that the island is not only her fatherland but a part of her soul.
In her exhibition, hosted at the Sussitio in Kourkoumelata, Pandora is presenting her works entitled “Suggestions, Thoughts, Opinions”. In the works, she uses different materials such as paper, charcoal, pencil, canvas, cardboard, and soluble colours on plaster or marble (mosaic), to express herself.
